It
was an exceptionally quiet day, for a Saturday - with tips in just 2 races - and
unfortunately, no winners…
Jumping
Jack was the first tip to run.
He
was a speculative play against some potentially vulnerable market leaders.
I
was right in my assessment of the market leaders: but wrong in my assessment of
him.
In
fairness he didn’t run badly
Turning
in, it looked as if he might be placed.
But
he found nothing for pressure and was ultimately well beaten.
The
days 2 other tips ran in the following race at Ascot - and ended up dominating
the market.
We
might have had the ‘value’ with the early prices - but that was all we got out
of the race.
The
main fancy was Geordie des Champs - but he didn’t travel from an early stage and
finished well beaten.
Go Conquer ran much better - and turning for home, looked likely to win.
However, he could only plug on over the final 2 fences - and both Traffic Fluid and Art Mauresque quickened past him…

The
days Mentions had a mixed day.
There
was 8 of them in total - and they managed 3 winners; 3 places (if you include
fourth
!) and 2 first fence fallers - one of them fatal…
At
SP, they finished about level - though at early prices, there was probably a
small profit in them.
I
guess the only issue is, the 2 I fancied most of the 8, didn’t manage to
negotiate a fence between them !
Finally,
the days 2 eye catchers managed a win and a place.
Our
Kaempfer looked likely to win - but didn't get home (I’ll give him the benefit
of the doubt and say he struggled in the ground - though I’m not entirely
convinced that was his issue !).
Le Patriote, on the other hand, looked likely to lose - but managed to grind out a tenacious win.

He
was backed as if defeat was out of the question (in to 5/4 at the off) – and
often I find it interesting how much harder those sorts tend to
try..!
There
will be more eventful days ahead - of that I am sure !
TVB.
