I
endured a frustrating morning, trying to tip the horses I wanted to tip - and
things didn’t get a whole lot better this afternoon !
I
ended up with 3 tips on the day - but non of them managed to come home in
front.
In
fairness, one of them nearly did.
Rolling
Dylan might have been the longest price of the 3, but he ran the best
race.
I
could see him travelling strongly in behind the leaders and whilst I thought a
mistake at the fourth last might end his challenge, it didn’t.
Coming
into the straight he was still going well - but he just wasn’t
quite
as slick over the final 2 fences, as his more experienced opponents.
He
still had every chance up the run in, but couldn't quite get back at them and
was ultimately beaten a head and a neck.
It
was a fine performance for a 20/1 shot - but that was slim
consolation…
The
Bay Birch was the days first tip to run - but she unseated at around half
way.
It
was a bit of an odd one, as she was nicely settled at the back and seemed to be
jumping well.
I
guess it only takes one mistake…
Sizing
Granite was the final tip to run - but he ran poorly.
Again,
he was settled at the back - but a couple of sloppy jumps cost him momentum and
he could never get into the race.
It
looked as if it all happened a bit to quickly for him - which was odd,
considering he was stepping up in trip by a mile !
Maybe
he is a spring time horse…
It
was a slightly odd day, in so much as I was almost as interested to see how the
horses I didn’t tip, ran !
There
were 2 in particular, that I ducked, because their price had gone - and
ultimately, that proved to be the right decision…
The
first was Smaoineamh Ailinn.
She
had been backed into 3/1 when I could tip - but was out to 5/1 at the
off.
In
truth, that didn't surprise me, as it was about the price she should have been,
up against some unexposed rivals.
She
made a race ending mistake at the fourth last - but regardless would have been
no match for Al Dancer, who won by 11 lengths, easing up…
It
was a slightly different story with Amazing Comedy.
Again,
he had gone too short this morning at 3/1 (far too short !) - and he also
drifted a little before the off.
He
also ran the race I expected: travelling like the winner (1.33 in running) - but
not getting home.
With
Wounded Warrior not handling the course, it was left to Fact of the Matter to
grind out a tenacious win.
I
suggested he might be a fair EW bet at 7/1 this morning - and I managed to get a
bit of 8/1 about him, around lunch time.
He
was the solid option in the race - and he duly came up trumps…
Favourite
, Angels Breath was a NR in the opener, leaving Elixir de Nutx to fend off
Jarveys Plate; whilst Lil Rockerfeller unseated early in the novice chase,
leaving The Worlds End to come home alone.
However,
the form is both races must be a little suspect…
TVB.
