The
ground at Carlisle, wasn’t
as soft as I expected today - and ultimately, I think that cost Chef
Doeuvre…
Having
said that, when it looked as if he was going to get an uncontested lead, I
thought he might get away with it.
However,
as soon as Danny Cook took him on with Lough Derg Farmer, I knew he was in
trouble.
He
ran a fair enough race: keeping on to take third place - and he remains very
much one to have on side - when he gets to run on bottomless ground…
There
was only one other tip on the day - and Choungaya couldn’t
avenge last months defeat by Easy Game.
In
fairness, he also ran a reasonable race - and jumping the second last, briefly
looked as if he might go close.
However,
he was then swamped by the closers - and that was that !
Earlier
on the Carlisle card, Revert Cust made a couple of jumping errors, just as the
pace was quickening - and could never get on terms in the novice handicap
chase.
Isaactown
Lad, on the other hand, was a dour winner of handicap hurdle – having drifted to
6/1, at the off.
Falshjack
dead heated for third in the same race - but his price remained constant, at
around 4/1.
Finally,
Russian Bill finished an eye catching sixth, under relatively tender handling,
at Navan.
He’s
unlikely to be dropped much more than a pound - but he could still be of
interest in a handicap over the Christmas period…
